Description

Youth Voice! It's all important. Any program that requires participation for its outcomes can (and should) engage participation in its planning. But how do we practically engage youth voice and student leadership/learning in a design process or evaluation technique?

Register now for your free spot at our third workshop on Tuesday, December 5, from 6 to 8:30pm! In our third convening exploring openness in learning environments, we'll welcome learning innovator Eve Tulbert of Mumkin Studio to explore Openness as a design strategy can support organizations in collaborative planning. We will encounter 7 learning games and activities that organize participation and cooperation around a new program or idea. The games and activities work to support several core needs in organizational development:

  • Dialo-go! A Game of Connected Conversation

  • Debrief and D-Brief: Setting an agenda, problems to action steps

  • Setting Participation Goals: Empathy Personas + imagining a “typical” participants needs

  • Creating Participant Experiences: Experience Journey Map

  • Unrestricted! (A game for participatory budgeting and resource finding)

  • Communications Strategy: Contagious Communication and Message Map

  • Evaluation: Creating a Data Map for desired program trends and impacts.

All HIPC III workshops, structured to enable a community of practice around Openness, are FREE to attend and will feature game-based professional development for educators and other interested folks. All workshops will feature food and drinks.

About HIPC III: This workshop series is the work of the Hive Interoperability & Portability Coalition III, composed of partners from the Adler Planetarium, Forall Systems, Inc., and Ci3′s GameChanger Chicago at the University of Chicago. In the current phase "Understanding the Open Internet," we hope to get learning program providers on board with concepts intrinsic to Hive Chicago in ways and contexts that are accessible to them. The workshops, which will explore concepts like Openness, Transparency, Agency, and Portability, will emphasize collaborative dicussion and fun, game-based activities that straddle digital and analog frameworks for understanding. Six workshops will take place over the course of the grant, open to all members of the Hive and other learning program providers in Chicago.

This program is made possible through a grant from the Hive Chicago Fund for Connected Learning and the Chicago Community Trust.
