Description

UNDERSTANDING HEALTHY SOILS AND ORGANIC GARDENING

Having healthy soil in a vegetable garden is essential to a successful crop. Join Tarrant Area Food Bank's Community Garden team for a presentation and discussion on the basics of creating a healthy soil environment in your garden.

Speakers will also give an overview of what it means to garden organically, why people choose to implement those techniques and different ways you can grow your produce organically at home.

The workshop will cover:

  • Basic soil structure and composition
  • Different soil amendments and their benefits
  • Basic concepts of organic gardening
  • Several growing techniques used in organic gardening

We hope to see you there!

This workshop is intended for beginner level gardeners ages 18 and over. Workshops are typically held outdoors. We suggest wearing layers of clothing that are suitable for the weather that you do not mind getting dirty and closed-toed shoes. Should the weather become unfavorable, we will move the workshop to an indoor classroom.
