Event description

Description

While most large gatherings are peaceful, even peaceful gatherings can quickly become dangerous and can represent a threat to operational security and safety. Leaders, decision-makers and first responders aware and concerned about current world events and the possibility of adverse collective behaviors benefit from a knowledge and understanding of the causes, warning signs, and behavioral dynamics of groups, crowds and mobs. Such an understanding better prepares first responders, security, emergency management and other professionals for the new challenges associated with the use of social media and globalization as they relate to the development of crisis situations and the potential of dangerous and violent collective behaviors.

Course Highlights:

  • Define and Distinguish Types of Groups, Crowds and Mobs
  • The Pyschology of Crowds
  • The Physics of Crowd
  • Identifying "Flashpoints"/Precipitants of Mob Behavior
  • Countermeasures and crowd management strategies
  • Operator Safety in Crowds and Mobs
  • Last-Chance Survival Tactics in Aggressive Crowds and Violent Mob Situations
