Event description

Description

Human activity has become the most powerful driver of change on Earth. We are affecting nutrient cycles, plant and animal populations, sea level, rainfall, and a wide range of ecosystem functions on which life depends. Global change is complex, interdisciplinary, and perfect for NGSS-oriented teaching. This hands-on workshop will present an entirely new conceptual framework, developed at the UC Berkeley Museum of Paleontology (UCMP), for modeling global systems, understanding contributions of human and non-human causes of change in those systems, and investigating measure-able changes in global system function. The UGC website – an addition to the existing UCMP sites Understanding Science and Understanding Evolution sites - will debut (at least, in beta) by fall, 2018. Meanwhile, you and your students can use posters and other resources generated by the project to these vital connections and interrelationships.
