Understanding Financial Literacy: A Strength for Families
June 7, 2022, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Financial literacy consists of skills that allow individuals, families, and community organizations to gain knowledge regarding the effective management of money and debt. Financial literacy is the cognitive understanding of those skills such as budgeting and planning for: child-care, groceries, rental and/or home mortgage payments, transportation, medical, car, life and/or funeral insurance, college and/or trade school, investing, future retirement, and taxation. The absence of such skills is called financial illiteracy.
Understanding and doing financial literacy is overwhelming, scary, and often anxiety-inducing. Financial planning is long term, and people cannot depend on one-time windfalls. However, it must be done for our children, families, and the communities we reside. Please join us to begin your Financial Literacy Education.
Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to list two factors that impact the financial equity of themselves, their families and children, and the communities they reside.
2. Participants will be able to identify one resource helpful for families to support and grow generational wealth.
