The Fair Housing Act is a very complex law with many different requirements. Design professionals are expected to understand the design requirements although very limited training on them is available. However, now the Department of Justice is exercising their right to file "pattern and practice" lawsuits, and those can go all the way back to the early 90's. Compliance with the Fair Housing Act is mandatory. That fact seems to becoming clearer and clearer as cities in Texas, and around the country, have been hit with both private law suits from local citizens and large settlement agreements from the United States Department of Justice. Many more wonder when it will be them and what they need to do to avoid it.
We have developed a training class specifically about the Fair Housing Act to clear away all of the misconceptions and help people understand how to comply.
