About this Event

JSSA Training Institute is pleased to announce training on working effectively with those affected by dementia.

DATE: February 4, 2020

TIME: 9am-12:15pm

This training provides 3 Category I CE's for licensed mental health practitioners

Description: The training will cover the mechanisms and presentation of various forms of dementia and related conditions, highlighting the differences between them. The reversible causes, complications and available treatments for dementia as well as prognosis will be discussed.

Learning Objectives: Participants will:

• Understand core definition of Dementia

• Understand the various types of Dementia and what differentiates them from one another

• Understand the difference between Dementia and other conditions (Mild Cognitive Impairment, Delirium, Pseudodementia)

• Understand treatments and prognosis for Dementia

About the Trainer: Nicholas Schor, MD

Dr. Schor completed his medical training at Howard University in Washington D.C. and his Psychiatry Residency at Johns Hopkins. He worked at community clinic, including JSSA, for several years and has been in private practice specializing in the assessment and treatment of individuals who are experiencing the behavioral and psychiatric symptoms of dementia in a home setting. He has served on the Board of Directors and Ethics Committee for the Washington Psychiatric Society and is the President of the Washington branch of American Geriatric Society.

The Jewish Social Service Agency (JSSA) is authorized by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners to sponsor Category 1 continuing education programs. The D.C. and Virginia Boards of Social Work usually recognize the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners’ approval. Please contact your state board for verification. JSSA maintains responsibility for this program.

JSSA is an approved sponsor of CE credits for psychologists in Maryland under the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. JSSA maintains responsibility for this program.

JSSA has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6457.

In order to receive a certificate, registrants must attend the entire session.
