Event Details

The Undergraduate Research in Science Conference of Alberta (URSCA) is an annual, multi-disciplinary conference for undergraduate students who are involved with Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) eligible science research.

The aim of the conference is to provide a venue to showcase outstanding examples of undergraduate research by students and engage with faculty and students from other post-secondary institutions. Business and industry sectors from across the province are also invited to share issues and strategies related to undergraduate research.

The inaugural conference was hosted by MacEwan University in 2015 with the theme “Exploring Undergraduate Research.” Since then, URSCA has been successfully hosted by The Kings University, Mount Royal University, University of Lethbridge and University of Calgary.

The Society of Physics, Earth Sciences, and Chemistry (SOPEC), is a group meant to connect students engaging in any of the three disciplines that make up the Physical Sciences major at MacEwan.

Our events center around any related physical sciences topics, which encourage networking between students and professors and learning in an engaging fashion. Other events focus on enguaging the general public in science in a mission to increase scientific literacy in Edmonton.

We are also please to anounce that we have a major event planned for 2020, where we will be partnered with MacEwan University to host the 6th annual Undergraduate Research in Science Conference of Alberta (URSCA).

We are always seeking new members and our club is open to any student at MacEwan who has a passion for science, reguardless of faculty or major!
