Event description
Explore how unconscious bias impacts arts and cultural organizations in this 4-part workshop series.

About this event

Join the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance for the Unconscious Bias Series: Creating Equity & Belonging in the Workforce, a series of four workshops for arts and culture organizations to understand how unconscious biases can impact the workplace and the people in it. Through four, two-hour workshops, participants will learn more about implicit biases in race, accessibility, class and age. This series is geared toward arts and culture professionals who are executive leaders, hiring managers, human resources professionals and team managers.

What is Unconscious Bias? Bias is a form of prejudice that is used to favor or “other” a characteristic, person or group. There are two types of biases, Conscious, which is explicit bias and Unconscious, which is implicit. Unconscious bias is derived from the subconscious in which social stereotypes constructed by society influence the individual’s decisions without their full awareness.

This series will be facilitated by The Realize Leadership Group, LLC., a consultancy that specializes in diversity & inclusion services. The Realize Leadership Group, LLC. has worked with clients ranging from higher education to global fortune 500 organizations.

The series kicks off on January 13, 2022, by exploring race in the workplace. Join this session to receive practical and tactical steps to address racial bias in your organization.

On January 27, 2022, the series continues with a deeper look into ableism. Take a deeper dive as we consider unseen disabilities in addition to physical access in the workplace.

On February 10, 2022, we will examine class and how this impacts the work environment. Learn more about the implication of class/social status effects on culture and retention.

Our series concludes on February 24, 2022, exploring ageism and its impact on a multigenerational workforce. Learn ways to bridge the generational divide within your organization.
