With this hands-on, classroom style course, you will be able to identify the various parts of your bicycle's braking system, replace worn out brake pads and cables, and fine-tune everything to a T. (Disc brakes not covered.)
What you'll learn:
- Survey of common rim brake technologies
- Cable, housing and brake pad replacement
- Repair and maintenance on caliper, linear-pull ("v brakes"), and cantilever brakes
- How to make quick adjustments on the go
- How to properly adjust brakes for maximum stopping and minimal squealing

The Austin Yellow Bike Project
The Austin Yellow Bike Project 501c(3) is a volunteer-powered initiative to put bicycles on the streets of Austin and Central Texas by operating community bike shops, teaching bike mechanics and maintenance, and acting as a local bike advocacy group. Yellow Bike's Education Programs aim to promote bicycling as a healthy, affordable, environment-friendly form of transportation in Austin by offering educational, recreational, and career-building opportunities for all ages -- with an emphasis on underserved communities.
