Moving from alpha to beta

Since its public launch in February 2021, Penpot capabilities and benefits have grown at an astonishing fast rate. For the past few weeks we constantly came back to one recurring question: Is Penpot really an alpha product anymore? We recently announced our beta launch and we're excited to tell you the process to the present time!

Clara, Pablo and Juan will represent the Penpot team and will explain to the audience how we got this far and what's to come for Penpot and its community. They'll also be happy to answer questions and share a small live demo of our beloved design and prototyping tool.

Penpot is a design and prototyping tool based on open formats (SVG). It's open-source and is free. As part of Kaleidos Open Source, Penpot is backed by the experience and commitment to Open Source software that brought Taiga to life, our agile project management tool.

About the speakers

Juan de la Cruz

Juan is Product Designer & Co-Founder at Penpot. He's been designing and developing user interfaces and digital products for over 10 years, but he doesn’t restrict himself to design. The blend of design, user experience, concept art and illustration is where he feels he excels.

Clara García-Viñola

Clara is Product designer at Penpot and Kaleidos Open Source. Passionate about the world of usability and defender of a more inclusive digital world. Focused on user-centered design and involved in Open Source projects. Always looking for new ways to make life easier and more enjoyable for people through design.

Pablo Ruiz-Múzquiz

Pablo, with a scientific-technical academic background, has been part of the open source hacktivist trend for 20 years. He is CEO and co-founder of Kaleidos, Taiga and Penpot, from where he promotes new productive, sustainable and committed models with a positive impact on society. He has participated in the design and development of more than 30 large technological projects.
