About this event
The ambition of the UNFSS is to launch a collective journey of transforming our food systems to give us the best possible chance of delivering on the 2030 Agenda. Everyone has a role to play in this. Only by coming together and challenging one another we can spark new ideas and create meaningful impact.
Action Track 4 (AT4) is concentrating on the livelihoods at the various points within food systems - from the small-scale farmer to the retailer - and how we advance equity throughout. The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed fundamental flaws in food systems, leaving millions of people without access to adequate nutritious foods and without reliable sources of income to provide for themselves and their families. This reality is no truer than for women who represent 43 per cent of the farming workforce in developing countries. Women are a key—yet often invisible—actor in food systems. True transformation means women must have a seat at the table as the leaders, innovators, farmers, caretakers, and saleswomen that they are. And as the rights holders they are.
Get Involved
Over the past months, we have worked to identify game-changing propositions that AT4 will take on and push to implement. To inform our next steps, this public forum will give attendees from all sectors and stakeholder groups the opportunity to engage in an active discussion on these propositions.
We would like your reflections to achieve the following objectives:
• Bring the public into the AT4 process for developing game-changing solutions, helping them understand the solutions that are on the table, offering an opportunity to weigh in their potential and gaps.
• Provide an update on the ongoing work and overall process of AT4.
• Establish and evaluate avenues to best promote the Vision of AT4 and Wave One propositions and garner buy-in from stakeholders. Identify gaps to inform Wave Two of AT4 propositions.
• Take a look beyond AT4 to highlight the value and interlinkages of AT4 to other Action Tracks.
• Share insight on how AT4 is integrated with other major global agendas and party conferences.
Through this public forum, multiple topics will be introduced by members of the AT4 leadership team with rousing discussion led by experts in the field after which there will be time for questions. The event is moderated by Michelle Nunn, CARE CEO and AT4 Chair.
Live: This will be a live virtual forum taking place on Zoom. A link to join Zoom will be provided in your Eventbrite follow-up emails.
The chat function in Zoom will be monitored to capture your comments and questions.
In addition to this event, we welcome you to share with us ideas for game-changing and systemic solutions to achieve the AT4 goals via this online form.
