UN Day at Brooklyn Borough Hall
Date and time
Description
Third Annual UN Day at Brooklyn Borough Hall
Free and open to all - the event will feature UN veteran Nick Birnback as keynote speaker and special guest, Munira Khalif, the 2017-18 U.S. Youth Observer to the United Nations, along with UNA leaders, with an open discussion about what’s ahead for the UN, US and international cooperation – followed by a reception with food, drinks, music and fantastic networking with Brooklyn activists, educators, policy professionals, government representatives, students and others.
With the Trump administration threatening critical UN resources, while slashing America’s own diplomatic corps, our voice in support of the UN and progressive global engagement is more important than ever.
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated, after being sworn in as the ninth UN chief, “The United States represents an important set of values, human rights, values related to freedom, to democracy…the cooperation between the U.S. and U.N. is absolutely essential for those values to be preserved in our world.” In the spirit of that message, come help us hold up this torch of commitment to a more peaceful and just planet by joining us for UN Day!
