Umatter for Youth and Young Adults (Umatter YYA) is a youth leadership and engagement initiative. The goal is to promote mental health wellness: healthy coping mechanisms among youth and young adults, and the ability to recognize when a peer needs help and how to provide it. The aim is to foster healthy community cultures for youth and young adults that promote mental health and resiliency, and which address issues such as bullying and substance abuse prevention within a continuum for prevention through recovery.
Core content and skills of Umatter YYA includes mindset, assessing personal strengths, assets and risks, resiliency, stress, self-care, strength and risk-based coping skills and consequences, recognizing signs of distress in self and others/peers, knowing what to say and do, help-seeking.

How many can we register?
1 or 2 Adult Facilitators and no more than 8 youth/young adults
What are the Adult Leader responsiblities?
Groups must arrive together to events, accompanied by an adult leader.
Youth and young adult group members will not be allowed to arrive solo.
What does it cost?
$300.00 per group, which includes 1 - 2 adult facilitators and up to 8 youth
Includes all materials, breakfast and lunch at both theKick-Off and Culmination events.
A $500.00 stipend will be provided to each group following participation in the Kick-Off Event - provided through funding from the Vermont Department of Health, Vermont Department of Mental Health, United Way of Windham County and Private Foundations
Do we have to pay now?
Payment is not required to register. You can pay with a credit card now or choose "Pay By Invoice" under Payment Options and an invoice will be sent.
What if we want to register our group but don't have all the names of all our participants yet?
It is recommended to register your group as soon as possible, even if you do not have all names of your group secured. Register the estimated number of your group members and populate the names with "unknown" or "tbd" and contact CHL to update with names once they are known.
