Event description

Description

The 18th Annual NEAN/Braden E. Griffin, MD Memorial Symposium will feature lectures from leaders in neonatology, Eric Eichenwald, MD Chief of Neonatology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; Munish Gupta, MD, chair of the Neonatal Quality Improvement Collaborative of Massachusetts (NeoQIC) from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Boston; William Hay, MD Co-Director of the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute and Director of the Child Maternal health Program & Director of the Perinatal Clinical Translational Research Center; and Jochen Profit, MD, MPH Director of Perinatal Health Systems Research at Stanford University. There will be four interactive workshops with the faculty in the afternoon followed by a business meeting of the AAP district 1 perinatal section.

This regional conference provides a friendly and constructive forum for research presentation before peers and senior conference faculty. Attendees will present posters in addition to several talks by established investigators and four breakout sessions. This letter is to invite your division/department as well as fellows and faculty to submit abstracts. The research focus is meant to be NICU/Perinatal QI or translational work. QI efforts are multidisciplinary, hence non-physician authorship is also welcome. It provides investigators with opportunity to present research in informal atmosphere. Work in progress is welcome. Protocols without results are not acceptable.

Presenting at this meeting does not preclude submitting or presenting an abstract at the annual meetings of any of the regional SPRs (i.e., MWSPR, ESPR, SSPR, WSPR), the section on Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Pediatric Academic Societies, the Society for Gynecologic Investigation or the Society for Perinatal Obstetricians.

Abstracts will be reviewed based on their scientific merit and overall contribution to the respective fields of Neonatology and Perinatology. First authors of top five posters from Fellows and junior faculty (less than three years out of fellowship or masters training) will have their registration fee waived. The top trainee abstract will be awarded the first annual Francis J Bednarek award.

Please find our abstract form here, with instructions.

Deadline for submission has been extended to October 31. Abstracts should be submitted via email to NICU@umassmemorial.org.

We appreciate your help in bringing the New England Association of Neonatologists District I Meeting in association with the UMass, Braden E Griffin, MD Memorial Symposium to the attention of your fellows and junior faculty. Please encourage them to submit an abstract for presentation.

We look forward to their submissions and becoming participants in this Memorial Symposium. If you have any questions please contact our office at 508-334-6206, NICU@umassmemorial.org or our administrative assistant Jill Johnson at Jill.Johnson@umassmemorial.org
