Event description

Description

UMAC is a student-led initiative developed to meet the needs of those seeking relief from human rights abuses in their home countries. This interdisciplinary group of health care providers, medical students, and legal professionals provides forensic medical and psychological evaluations for asylum applicants throughout Michigan. For more info, please visit http://asylumcollab.wix.com/umac.

This training session will equip attendees with the skills needed to conduct evaluations and write medical affidavits to document the physical sequelae of human rights abuses. Trained medical students will then work with attendings to conduct forensic evaluations and draft medical affidavits, which are used to corroborate the applicant’s testimony and support evidence for the asylum case.

Breakfast will be provided.
