Ultrasound Guided PICC and Midline Insertion Training Program

This 2-day hands-on training program prepared according to the infusion therapy standards of practice and CDC guidelines, qualify RNs to insert PICC and Midline catheters under the supervision of a preceptor.
1st day didactic session consists of legal implications, patient selection criteria for PICC and midlines, venous anatomy and insertion site selection, equipment selection, measuring for PICC and midline tip locations, infection prevention guidelines, reimbursement, routine care prevention and management of complications.
2nd day focuses on fundamentals of ultrasound scanning and modified Seldinger technique (MST) for PICC and midline catheter insertions.
Attendees use an ultrasound to scan, identify and differentiate veins, arteries and nerve bundles on each other. Blue Phantom vein model and Peter PICC mannequin are utilized for the demonstration and practice sessions.
On-site precepting and skill validations are available.
