Event description

Description

UL Lafayette students, employees, alumni and supporters are invited to join us for ULS Day at the Capitol in Baton Rouge on Wednesday, April 10, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. We ask that you visit the Capitol lawn with us to promote the University of Louisiana System and request financial and legislative support for our universities. The day will feature academic displays from each institution, performances, a spirit competition, and a program featuring Gov. John Bel Edwards, UL System President Jim Henderson, and Board Chair Mark Romero.

Transportation, lunch, and dessert will be provided at no cost.

Last year, a massive turnout from all nine UL System universities made a real impact and our voices were heard concerning budget cuts. This year, it is important that continue to show our strength in numbers, so please join us and wear red! The day's activities will include:

  • ULS Day Lunch: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Capitol lawn – featuring lunch by Nicholls' Chef John Folse Culinary Institute, academic program displays, and various performances from each university.
  • ULS Day Group Photo: 1:30 p.m., Steps of the State Capitol
  • ULS Day Recognition: 2 p.m., House of Representatives and Senate Chambers

UL Lafayette will have transportation available for participants. Buses will leave campus at 8:30 a.m., depart from the State Capitol at 3 p.m. and arrive back at UL Lafayette around 4:30 p.m. Participants traveling to Baton Rouge on their own are asked to meet the UL Lafayette group at 10:30 a.m.
