Event description

Description

Come and join UKLA member Rebecca Simpson-Hargreaves for a lovely 4 mile walk through the picturesque Peak District surroundings. Meeting outside Grindleford Station Cafe at 4:30pm we will be walking through Padley Gorge up to the Longshaw estate (which is owned by the National Trust), then stopping for a well earned break at the Grouse Inn. The Grouse Inn serves food as well as drinks, with a seasonal menu as well as walkers' favourites with time planned in to refuel before heading back down to Grindleford through Hay's Wood. No specialist equipment is needed, a pair of trainers will do, but please do not wear shoes or anything that could slip off. The initial walk does involve walking uphill through a wooded area but flattens out into grassland as we walk through the estate, there's no need to be super fit! If you want to bring your dog then it's a great dog walk and they would be most welcome. Please note through the estate they must be kept on a lead as there are livestock and ground nesting birds. Dogs are also welcome at the pub.

Train from Sheffield to Grindleford: 4:15pm arriving 4:30pm

Train from Grindleford back to Sheffield 7:50pm arriving 8:05pm

Train tickets are £8.20 return

There is also parking near the train station for those wishing to drive Sat Nav postcode S32 2HY, it is signposted from the main road.
