Dear Academics, Industry professionals and Officials,
You are cordially invited to a workshop on metrics and data for energy storage technologies, taking place immediately prior to the UKES conference in Birmingham on the 30th November.
Making big decisions about energy storage calls for solid, unambiguous data about cost and performance of different technologies. Often the available data is incomplete, difficult to access, and hard to compare.
As part of the EPSRC-funded RESTLESS project, work to address this issue is underway. The study has compiled an open-access database of technical and cost metrics for a range of technologies and applications, and now its authors seek further expert opinion on these metrics, and how best to shape and exploit the database.
The aims of the workshop are to:
- Showcase the existing content of the RESTLESS energy storage database.
- Prompt further discussion around technical, environmental and cost metrics. We will solicit examples of key technologies where using generic values for common parameters leads to unreliable results, and look at how to address these.
- Seek input on the continuing development and use of the database by a range of stakeholders for maximum impact.
Registration is free, but please sign up before the 15th November. Your attendance and contributions would be warmly welcomed. Refreshments will be provided.
