Welcome to the 2nd Annual Uintah Basin Emergency Care Conference!
There will be Emergency Care courses offered both days, so plan on a full weekend whether you are FIRE, EMS, HOSPITAL, or FIRST RESPONDER.
In addition, we have two fire tracks. They are limited in participation, so please register for ONE:
HAZMAT DECON (both Friday and Saturday):
The lead instructor for the UBECC Hazmat training has worked throughout the nation as a hazmat subject matter expert. While he has a strong background in Fire and EMS, he has also worked for the Federal Government as a decontamination expert, and has trained military and first responders throughout the world. Our other two instructors have taught classes all over the United States, the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico for military agencies and first responders. They have developed a Hazmat decontamination procedure that is revolutionizing the way Hazmat teams decon their personnel. This process has been going worldwide, but the presentation in the Basin will be one of the first in Utah for municipal agencies. The course has a maximum of 20 students. First come, first served!
Students are encouraged to bring hazmat PPE (level A or B suit, boots, gloves, and SCBA).
ENGAGING THE PUBLIC (Saturday only):
Today's citizenry is more aware of public services than any other time in history. Because of this, there is a greater demand on fire departments to ensure the public understands how they operate, and that they are being fiscally responsible.
The purpose of the "Engage the Public" presentation is to help fire departments find new ways of engaging and educating the communities they serve. An engaged and educated community is a more responsible community in regards to the needs of the fire department; they also tend to have a greater sense of ownership for the service being provided. We have to change our thinking from believing we will only educate the community when the need arises. Rather, we should look for opportunities to engage and educate in everyday settings. The principles discussed in this class have been tested and proven. Attendees will take away a greater understanding of how to look for opportunities to engage members of their community while performing everyday tasks, use social media as a means of engaging and educating, and gain an understanding of how to become a part of the community; not just a service to them. The course has a maximum of 40 students. Sign up to participate, now!
We are planning a breakout class for up to 30 people on emergency surgical tracheotomies using pig anatomy. This will be limited seating - first come, first served. You have to be registered for the full conference. Please choose a FULL CONFERENCE ticket and a BREAKOUT ticket when you register. (It should show 2 tickets.)
MEGA-CODE CONTEST and FIRE SKILLS CHALLENGE

Friday will be the EMS Mega-Code Contest where teams of 3-4 responders (of any level) compete in an ACLS challenge for a killer trophy, awesome prizes and a year of bragging rights. Register your team today!
Saturday will be a FIRE Skills Challenge where teams of 4 Firefighters compete in a skills challenge for a different killer trophy, awesome prizes and a year of bragging rights.

- Each day the conference starts at 8:00 AM and ends by 4:00 PM
- A light breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided.
- If you can only attend one day, please choose that ticket type.
- Due to generous sponsors, there is no charge to attend. Please be respectful, though, and cancel your ticket if you absolutely cannot come. That will help us keep our budget in check so we can continue to offer this event at no or low cost to responders.
