UF/IFAS Lake County ExtensionFeeding The Equine Athlete: Good Health from the Inside Out
Thursday, July 25, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (EDT)
Anyone who has worked with them, know that horses are complicated creatures...this fact is never more true than when considering their digestive tract. Providing a wholesome, natural, and balanced diet for your equine athlete is not difficult and yet more myths and misconceptions surround feeding horses than any other species of livestock or companion animal. This class, hosted by the University of Florida Lake County Extension Service, is designed to give a general overview of Equine Nutrition, paying special attention to avoiding common feeding mistakes. Time will also be spent discussing the importance of good pasture management and an overview of toxic plants common to Lake County pastures will be provided. The class will be taught by Lake County Livestock Extension Agent, Megan Brew who holds a B.S. in equine science and an M.S. in animal nutrition.
