Going Coastal Spring Break Camp @ Weedon Island Preserve
The Going Coastal Spring Break Camp at Weedon Island is a 3-day marine science-themed camp for students 7-11 years of age. Taught by UF/IFAS Extension Florida Sea Grant Agent, the camp offers a fun balance of educational and recreational activities to engage and challenge your student! The camp will run Wednesday-Friday from 9am-4pm.
Lessons and Activities will include (but are not limited to):
- Coastal Habitat Hike
- Guided Canoe Paddle
- Saltwater Fish Seining and Invertebrate Dip Netting
- Ethical Fishing on the Weedon Pier
- Daily Art Activity
Mentors from The Ohio State University Buck-I-SERV program will serve as teaching assistants for the program. UF/IFAS and OSU have a 6-year relationship of working together to provide marine science opportunies for youth, but this will be our first camp and we are as excited as you are!
The camp is set up as a 4-H Special Interest, SPIN, Club. As such, each parent will fill out a 4-H membership form and liability form for their student. The forms will be emailed out prior to camp. Registration for the camp is first-come, first-serve.

Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center - Pinellas County Extension
UF/IFAS Extension Pinellas County at Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center offers a variety of educational and interpretive programs for the public. Center programs interpret the natural, cultural and archaeological history of the Preserve to demonstrate how the environment and people support and shape each other.
