Event description

Description

Join the Urban Economic Development Association for the third session in our 2018 Emerging Topics Series!

While the social enterprise model is not new, it has garnered more interest and attention from multiple sectors in recent years. Philanthropic agencies have begun incorporating 'impact investing' into their portfolios, nonprofits and businesses are more interested in achieving a 'triple bottom line', and consumers are increasingly conscious of where they spend their money and what their dollar supports.

The third session in our Emerging Topics Series session will provide a history of the social enterprise model, feature a panel of local institutions that offer training and support to organizations interested in exploring this model, and the opportunity to talk with area organizations operating successful social enterprises and those participating in social innovation trainings.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Deanna Singh, Flying Elephant, LLC

Deanna Singh is recognized as a leading authority in building innovative opportunities within underserved communities. As Chief Change Agent and Founder of Flying Elephant, Deanna is a highly respected thought leader, who has spent almost 20 years researching, designing and building asset-based solutions to complex social challenges.
