Event description
30th Annual Black Caucus Gala - "Celebrating Ancestral Discovery & Building Generational Connections"

About this Event

All are invited to attend the 30th Annual Black Heritage Month-Fundraising Gala!

This year's theme is "Celebrating Ancestral Discovery & Building Generational Connections", hosted at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco (Saturday, February 22nd 2020; 6:00 pm).

Founded in 1968, The Black Caucus serves as an instrument of change, community building, and professional support. As the oldest culturally-based affinity group in the UC System, the Black Caucus is built on a foundation of social justice advocacy.

Our annual fundraising gala celebrates the legacy of our founding members and brings the UCSF Community together to celebrate Black Heritage Month. We also raise funds which support the efforts of the Black Caucus at UCSF throughout the year.

Our keynote address will be provided by Dr. Rick Kittles, Co-Founder of African Ancestry and leader of the National Human Genome Center at Howard University. His expertise in genetic ancestry and health disparities aligns greatly with our mission at UCSF to advance health worldwide.

This formal black-tie event is the highlight of the social scene at UCSF and is widely attended by UCSF leadership, faculty, staff, students, and their guests. Formal African-inspired attire is highly encouraged.
