John Williams, President Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Vice Chairman, FOMC will discuss The Economics Outlook and Monetary Policy at 7:30 am on Wednesday, October 2 at the UC San Diego Faculty Club.

As President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, John Williams holds a permanent position on the Federal Open Market Committee, the group that determines U.S. monetary policy. He is currently the Vice Chair of the FOMC. He has held positions with the Federal Reserve system since receiving his Ph.D. in economics from Stanford, starting as a staff economist at the Federal Reserve Board in 1994. He moved to the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco in 2002, where he became president in 2011 before moving to the New York Fed in 2018. Williams has published dozens of highly cited papers in leading economics journals. With his many years of experience with both economic policy and academic research, he is one of the most authoritative and influential economists in the world today.
