4th Annual UCSC Bioneers Conference at Kresge College

Kresge College's Common Ground Center is hosting the 4th annual UCSC Bioneers Conference on Thursday February 28th, Friday March 1st, and Saturday March 2nd 2019 at Kresge Town Hall.

PARKING

Guests are directed to park at the Core West Parking Garage. Parking attendants will be on the 2nd floor of the Core West Parking Garage selling permits on Thursday February 28th from 6:00-7:30 PM for $5, and Friday March 1st from 9:15-11:15 AM for $10. Guests arriving outside of that time frame will need to purchase A permits at the parking kiosk at the base of campus, which is open 7 AM to 1 PM. From 1-5 PM permits can be purchased at the TAPS Sales Office. Parking is free in Core West on Saturday March 2nd.

FOOD, COFFEE & TEA

We are serving a free community meal for the first 120 people on Thursday from 6:30-7:00 PM. There will be "bottomless coffee" and tea the entire time from the Community Agroecology Network on Friday & Saturday. Please bring your own mug or thermos to help us make this a zero waste event. Lunch will be for sale from Viva's organic Mexican food on Friday and Saturday, including a variety of burritos and agua fresca. Also, the Owl's Nest Cafe (the campus cafe next to Town Hall) will be open Friday.

BACKGROUND

Bioneers (www.bioneers.org) is a national organization dedicated to social and environmental justice. Bioneers hosts an annual conference in Marin County that attracts over 2000 scholars and activists. UCSC students have created a UCSC version of the Bioneers Conference, thereby enabling our local community to lead intriguing plenary talks and workshops based on the conference topics, which include but are not limited to: Eco-nomics; Ecological Design; Ecological Literacy; Ecological Medicine; Every Women’s Leadership; Indigenous Knowledge; Justice: Racial, LGBT, Human Rights, Equity, and Rights of Nature; Media; Nature, Culture, Spirit; Resilient Communities; Restorative Food Systems; Restoring the Bio-Sphere; and Youth Leadership.
