Join us and participate in the first annual Alumni Day of Service!

What is the Day of Service?

No Matter Where You Are...
No Matter What Your Passion...
Together Gauchos Give Back and Make the World a Better Place!

On February 24, 2018, we want to unite all Gauchos throughout the United States, and the world to participate in a day of giving back to your community. We encourage you to find a volunteer opportunity in your area that is meaningful to you and spend anywhere from one to a few hours giving back.

Register here and tell us what act of service you will particopate in on February 24th and we'll send you a Gauchos Give Back t-shirt to wear on the day. Post a picture of yourself wearing your t-shirt on social media using the hashtag #GauchosGiveBack and email your photo to ucsbalum@ia.ucsb.edu including your name and class year.

San Bruno Mountain Watch

Volunteers will help clean up the mountain through ecological restoration events, from pulling weeds to removing litter from the environment. Be sure to dress in layers and bring sun protection, sturdy shoes, and a reusable water bottle!

Friends of Sausal Creek
2639 Beaconsfield Pl. just off Chelton Dr. in Montclair, Oakland
Volunteers of the Beaconsfield Canyon Restoration Workday will assist in pulling invasive plants to restore the hillsides, plant natives, and work on the trails to make the canyon more accessible. Wear long pants and sturdy shoes; tools and gloves are provided.

Miller Park Native Plant Nursery
3594 Sanborn Rd. Oakland, CA 95602
Volunteers of the Joaquin Miller Park Native Plant Nursery will help with transplantation, pot washing, weeding, fertilization, and pruning.

Meals on Wheels

Volunteers of the Card-Making event will help make greeting cards, birthday cards, and "just thinking of you!" cards to let the community seniors who benefit from Meals on Wheels know they are loved and thought of.
To sign up, you can make the cards at home and mail them in! Just be sure to follow the guidelines so they will be approved once received: http://www.mowsf.org/cards

Disaster Kit Delivery Programs
Volunteers will help deliver disaster kits containing food and water to the city's most vulnerable populations. Don't forget to wear comfortable shoes!
