Join us at University College London (UCL) for an afternoon of exploring the changing role of herbal traditions within our food and health systems through lectures and poster sessions. Invited speakers include Prof. Monique Simmonds OBE, Deputy Director of Science at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, and Prof. Sabine Anagnostou of Philipps-Universität Marburg and President of Deutschen Gesellschaft für Geschichte der Pharmazie. The afternoon will be chaired by Prof. Michael Heinrich at the UCL School of Pharmacy. POSTER ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
We invite poster abstracts on both completed research and research in progress on topics related to the interface between food, medicine, and culture to the present day. This includes but is not limited to the history of science, medicine, and technology; economic history; anthropology; sociology; Chinese and other Asian studies; food and nutrition studies; pharmacy, phytochemistry, and pharmacognosy; museum and conservation studies; cultural studies; medical humanities; and biomedical and natural science research. Interdisciplinary poster abstracts are particularly encouraged.
If you would like to present a poster at the symposium, please send us an abstract (<350 words) to UCLSpicesandMedicine@gmail.com by 12 September 2016. Include a full list of contributing authors and the format (landscape or portrait) and size (A0-A3) of your poster.
