We are hoping you will join us at Wingtip on Monday December 5 from 6-8 pm for a cocktail party fundraiser on behalf of the Ubunye Challenge.
The Ubunye Challenge: Going to the Extreme for Africa (http://ubunyechallenge.com/) is a US-registered charity where competitive athletes engaging in extreme sports to raise funds for schools in Africa. Participants have swum the English Channel and the North Channel, rowed the Atlantic Ocean, and engaged in the first-ever trans-Indian Ocean Row from Australia to Africa. Causes have included the construction of schools in Zimbabwe as well as the purchase and installation of portable classrooms in South Africa.
Ubunye’s work focuses on bringing educational opportunity to countries like South Africa and Zimbabwe. One month of a teacher’s salary in the preschool we support in the Eastern Cape region of South Africa is 75 dollars, which is what we are asking as a gift for those who attend the event. In addition to cocktails and nibbles, we will hear remarks by our founder, Cameron Bellamy, who will be fresh off his attempt to become only the 19th person in history to complete the incredibly dangerous North Channel swim from Ireland to Scotland. You can bring a check, cash or give online at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/UbunyeChallenge
The event will be hosted at Wingtip (www.wingtip.club), a fabulous private members’ club located in downtown San Francisco.
Hope to see you there!
