A major part of Ubuntu in the upcoming 12.04 release is Juju - the new way of deploying and managing services across Ubuntu, whether on server or in cloud.
Juju is DevOps DistilledTM. Through the use of charms, juju provides you with shareable, re-usable, and repeatable expressions of DevOps best practices. You can use them unmodified, or easily change and connect them to fit your needs. Deploying a charm is similar to installing a package on Ubuntu: ask for it and it’s there, remove it and it’s completely gone.
To help ISVs, packagers, devops or anyone else interested for that matter, Canonical is running Charm School. During Charm School you will learn all about Juju and how to create Charms for applications to be able to deploy them as services across Ubuntu systems.
Charm school is hands on so you will learn real stuff. If you have access to a laptop that is running Ubuntu (either native or as a virtual instance) then please bring it along. We can help you install Ubuntu as a virtual instance on th day if you like but we will have a few systems available for you to play with. Charm School is also free but places are limited so please confirm your place as soon as you can.
