Description

Josephinum Academy of the Sacred Heart presents Ubu Roi on January 24, 25, 26, February 1 and 2 at 7:00 p.m.

Ubu Roi is the story of a man driven to extremes by his lust for power. Taking his inspiration from Shakespeare's Macbeth, Alfred Jarry crafts a world full of unforgettable comedic characters, and madcap moments. This new adaptation, by David Fehr, is presented by the Fine Arts department and the IB Theatre Senior class of Josephinum Academy of the Sacred Heart.

The foundation of arts programming at Josephinum Academy is the Sacred Heart values and our International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, a skills- and aptitude-based education. We encourage students to challenge their own creative and cultural expectations and boundaries. They are asked to engage in, experiment with and critically reflect upon a wide range of ideas and artistic techniques.

Our theatre program is a creative environment that “pushes the envelope,” taking new intellectual and emotional risks. As each ensemble becomes immersed in their projects, they combine individual talent with collective teamwork. We applaud self-expression and take pride as each young woman finds her voice and discovers her own special relationship with the arts.

We hope you will join us for Ubu Roi.
