Join other individuals, families, and caregivers affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D) at all life stages for a day of education and connection at the TypeOneNation Summit. Talk to experts about research advances, meet with other attendees to exchange ideas, and participate in discussions important to you.

Welcome 2018 Key Note Speakers!

Dr. Nicole Johnson: Nicole Johnson, Miss America 1999, is a Telly award-winning television journalist and an avid writer. Her articles on living with diabetes and wellness have appeared in Guideposts Magazine, Diabetes Forecast, Diabetes Health, USA Today and on various websites related to diabetes. She has also written seven books on diabetes topics. Over the last twenty years, Nicole has helped raise over $27 million for diabetes research and programs and has been recognized for her work in diabetes around the world. Nicole has worked in television, academia and non-profit all focused on diabetes issues. Her areas of expertise include social marketing, qualitative research and community organization. Evidence of her work is represented at www.diabetesempowerment.org. Nicole has a Doctor of Public Health degree and holds Master's degrees in Journalism and Public Health.

Adam Brown: Adam Brown serves as Senior Editor at diaTribe.org. Adam brings 16 years of personal experience living with diabetes to all of his work at diaTribe, especially in testing out new technology like glucose meters, CGMs, insulin pumps, automated insulin delivery, and mobile apps. He writes an acclaimed column for diaTribe, Adam's Corner, which has brought useful diabetes tips to over 600,000 people since 2013. Adam's first book, Bright Spots & Landmines: The Diabetes Guide I Wish Someone Had Handed Me, was published in May 2017 and received immediate praise for its actionable advice on food, mindset, exercise, and sleep. Adam has also brought a patient perspective to numerous public venues, including FDA and NIH meetings, scientific and industry conferences, and patient events. He graduated summa cum laude from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 2011 pursuing concentrations in marketing and health care management & policy. He is passionate about exercise, nutrition, psychology, and wellness, and spends his free time cycling in San Francisco.
