Yes, that’s right: we are wheeling a Steinway piano into Trinity Church!
Join Friends of Music for Windswept, a program featuring the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra wind players and Shepherd University's Scott Beard on piano. The young upstart Beethoven's brash and brilliant quintet for piano and woodwinds was shrewdly written as a companion piece to Mozart's earlier work for the same instrumentation. Beethoven swaps out Mozart's elegance and nuanced colors for angularity and boldness. The Poulenc Trio for piano, oboe, and bassoon is suave and charming. With a borrowed title from Carl von Weber, D'Rivera's fun-loving Invitation to the Dance pulls from his jazz origins, while the Voigt Nocturne delves into the lyrical and melting. Windswept spirits you across a vast plain of sound and emotion
We are primarily residents of the Eastern Panhandle who have a passion for good music and who are willing to support FOM financially and through volunteer efforts. Our patrons are concentrated in the cities of Shepherdstown, Martinsburg and Charles Town, West Virginia, but we have regular patrons and supporters in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia. You are invited to join us in the celebration of excellent chamber music.
