Event description

Moment Improv Theatre hosts a monthly "Two Play Improv Extravaganza" which features three unique improv comedy duos who each push the limit of what is possible onstage in inventive and interesting ways. The show also includes a San Francisco based stand-up comedian that hosts the show and performs their own set to kick off the evening's entertainment.

The theater space is intimate and features excellent sight-lines, and incredible acoustics so you can capture every nuance of the performance. The theater lobby is a great place to meet new friends and talk with the performers in a warm atmosphere, with drinks served by our friends at Azucar Lounge.

Headlining this month's show is nationally performing improv duo, Liss n' Sams, featuring improv legend Joe Liss and Moment Improv Theatre's own Marcus Sams. Hailed by audiences as a 'must see,' Liss and Sams deliver stunningly engaging and energetic performances.

Also taking the stage will be American Immigrants, featuring Anthony Veneziale and Vivek Venugopal. Their set will combine musicality and improvisational mastery in a way that will expand your definition of improv. Your improv openers this month will be Leila Carrillo & Shirley F. Rivera of PIOUS. Hosting the show will be stand up comedian Theo Hull, who will have you laughing before and after each improv performance with engaging crowd work and excellent material. Laugh off your long week with us at Moment!

This is a 18+ Event.

More info:

Host: Theo Hull

Theo Hull has performed all over California. Everywhere from dive bars (where he looks like he belongs) to clubs like the San Jose Improv and Flappers in Burbank. His goofy style of comedy ranges from a variety of rants to some-what intelligent bits. Giving his perspective on a wide range of topics he always keeps the audience engaged.

Liss n' Sams: Joe Liss & Marcus Sams

When Second City Alum Joe Liss and Bay Area veteran performer/teacher Marcus Sams performed their 1st scene together in a Leela Armando Show comic lightning struck. They were anointed by, who improvOlympic Guru Del Close called, “The Gods”! They instantly felt the improv Karma that transformed into… Liss n’ Sams! Now from a single suggestion Liss n’ Sams perform action-packed improv that runs down the rabbit hole ahead of the White Rabbit. Prepare for whiplash as Joe Liss’s “Follow-the-Follower” mantra meets Marcus Sams’ “Anything-is-Everything” philosophy. If you don't like to laugh you should not come see them perform.

American Immigrants: Anthony Veneziale & Vivek Venugopal

American Immigrants is an improvised musical evening featuring two improvisers, two guitars and infinite possibilities. American Immigrants takes an audience suggestion and spins it into a brand new song on the spot, then creates scenes based off of that song while using the central theme of how we all came to America. It’s long form improvisation with guitars. American Immigrants is made up of Anthony Veneziale, known also for his work in Freestyle Love Supreme (with Lin Manuel Miranda & other Hamiltonians), SF’s own The Freeze and HUGE, and has appeared in various shows including Sex in The City and HBO’s Looking. Vivek Venugopal is an SF-based stand-up comedian and improvisor.

PIOUS: Leila Carrillo & Shirley F. Rivera

Driven by Spanish colonialism, catholic school upbringings and excel spreadsheets that chart their dalliances, two liberal AND liberated ladies will take you on a cathartic ride as they destroy their oppressors and make nice with their sins. Pivot tables included. They are Pious.
