Event description

Description

Please join us for a public meeting to learn about and provide feedback on Minnesota Pathways to Decarbonizing Transportation. The project is exploring potential strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) from cars, trucks, and buses in Minnesota with the goal of making progress towards state GHG reduction targets in the Next Generation Energy Act for years 2025 (-30% from 2005) and 2050 (-80% from 2005).

The effort is a starting point to help state agencies start thinking seriously about ways to reduce transportation GHG emissions: the #1 source of GHG emissions in Minnesota. The project will result in a summary report on the emissions modeling and stakeholder feedback to inform future work by the state to decarbonize transportation.

At the meeting, you will have the opportunity to share your perspective through a combination of small and large group discussions and straw polling. The discussion will be informed by a presentation on the modeling results that will document the potential pathways for decarbonizing Minnesota’s transportation sector. More electric vehicles? Expanded use of biofuels and other clean fuels? Strategies to better support walking, biking, and alternative modes of transportation? Come and share your perspective.
