Minnesota Oncology and Plastic Surgery Consultants are pleased to host our second annual Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day event! Many women who have undergone a mastectomy or lumpectomy are unaware of their reconstruction and insurance coverage options, and this important day recognizes this often-overlooked part of the breast cancer journey.
Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day is a FREE, annual event that brings leading breast reconstruction experts together to answer all your questions.
- Information about the options available for women considering breast reconstruction
- Connect with women who have been through breast cancer surgery
- Presentations from breast reconstruction surgeons and women who have had reconstruction and gone through this journey
- Q & A opportunity with breast reconstruction surgeron, medical oncologist, a mastectomy and compression fitter, and a survivor representing the option to stay flat
- Exhibit Area with products and services to help women who have been affected by breast cancer
- Appearance by Alexis Thompson and dream interpretation by producer Dawn McClain from MyTalk 107.1
- Hors d’oeuvres will be served; cash bar available
- Prize drawings will be held throughout the evening
Parking: Ample free parking is avaiable in the parking ramp adjacent to The Westin Edina Galleria. You can access the hotel. The hotel entrances from the ramp will bring you to the event area on the main floor of the hotel.
Check-in: Please check in at the registration tables in the event area. You will receive a swag bag that will contain materials for the evening, including a printed agenda which also has a number on it. We will be calling numbers throughout the evening for prize drawings!

6:00 p.m. – Welcome & kickoff with Sunday Burquest, breast cancer survivor and finalist on Survivor reality show
6:15-6:45 p.m. – Dr. Valerie Lemaine, breast reconstruction surgeon
6:45-7:00 p.m. – Q&A with Dr. Lemaine
7:00-7:15 p.m. – Dr. Michaela Tsai, Medical Oncologist from Minnesota Oncology
7:15-7:30 p.m. – Amy Dellwo, breast cancer survivor sharing her reconstruction story
7:30-7:35 p.m. – Kris Newcomer, Executive Director, The Firefly Sisterhood
7:35-8:15 p.m. – Panel Discussion with Dr. Lemaine, Dr. Tsai, Nicole Wrazidlo, a mastectomy and compression fitter for Heide’s Mastectomy & Compression Store, and a survivor representing the option to stay flat
8:15-8:45 p.m. – Resource Center Open, meet the doctors, networking, etc.
