Description
Yes, there are rules to role play! And techniques, too! Make your role plays (and other action structures in other settings) rock with the technique of doubling, which is considered a key intervention in supporting developmental change, empathy for self and more.
Doubling, along with other psychodramatic role-playing echniques, promises to enable people to give issues more serious or deeper consideration, particularly in settings where self disclosure and finding one’s voice are challenging.
In this interactive training workshop, Karen will demonstrate the use of doubling that enlivens the therapeutic setting, increases insight, permits and assists self disclosure, and deepens a person’s experience of self and the issue. There will be ample opportunities to practice and ask questions about the use of this role play technique.
You will learn:
- The application of role theory to safe role play.
- The uses of the psychodramatic double.
- Assessing your client for interventions with the psychodramatic double.
- How to explain and warm up your client to the role of the double.
- How to evaluate the client’s story for role play possibilities.
- The judicious use of props to set scenes and make the issue come alive.
