Event description

Description

The 36th annual Tuscola County Pumpkin Festival is fast approaching.  The dates for the 2016 festival are October 6th-9th.  The 2016 theme is “May the Pumpkins Be With You Tuscola County”

The Pumpkin Festival Parade Committee would like to extend an invitation to participate in our “Grand Parade”, which will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 9th.  The parade will begin at the corner of Quinn and Millwood Streets.  We are asking all parade entries to follow the theme using your imagination.

You will need to choose a category to be judged in.  There is also a not-judged category, which will include emergency units and politicians.

Rules and Information for the 2016 Parade:

  • Entry Applications MUST be completed to the Pumpkin Parade Committee no later than September 16th, 2016.   Late responses received after September 16th will be located based on availability.  Entries received one week prior to the event will not be judged.

  • All applicants are subject to review and approved by the Pumpkin Festival Board of Directors.

  • Placement in the line-up of the parade is at the sole discretion of the Tuscola County Pumpkin Festival Board

  • We ask all units to be in place (1 ¼) hours prior to starting time of the parade.

  • DO NOT BLOCK ANY DRIVEWAYS!

  • No alcoholic beverages will be permitted in the parade or line-up area.  Participants driving a motorized vehicle must not be under the influence of alcohol or any other illegal substances.  Failure to comply will result in the removal of the entry from the parade.

  • No vehicles may be driven by unlicensed participants, as required by State law

  • All Michigan helmet laws must be followed during the parade

  • All units must provide for the safety of any children in their group, with adequate supervision before, during, and after the parade.

  • Candidates running for any political office (EXCLUDING INCUMBENTS) will not be allow an individual entry, but will be asked to join their political party’s entry.

  • The parade committee will allow handouts, but require that all handouts be given at the sidelines of the parade route.  At no time may any items be thrown from your entry.

  •  Due to congestion on the side streets, please be specific on the measurements of your entry.

If you would like to be a part of our 2016 “Grand Parade”, please complete the registration, by Friday, September 16th.  Late entries will be put on a waiting list.  If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.
