You have a memoir—a life story—that you know needs to be written. But how? There is so much to tackle in crafting a memoir, no matter the length. Where do you begin? How do you shape a memory into a story that engages readers? How do you sustain their interest?

In this workshop, we will explore the important turning points in your life, so you can choose the one(s) that merit your attention. We’ll also examine the popular themes in memoir so you know how to publish your finished memoir, if you so desire. We’ll discuss memoir and truth, answering questions about whose truth it is... or is it? Finally, everyone will discover the natural arc (inner change) that comes from overcoming life’s challenges, which is so crucial in a credible memoir.

Participants will have prompts to practice skills in discovering these elements of memoir as well as have the opportunity to workshop their first draft of a beginning memoir at the second session.
