Event description
The second of four seasonal showcases, celebrating our yearlong recording project: TURN.

About this Event

What is TURN?

TURN is our yearlong recording project where we are writing, recording, and releasing three new songs at the turn of each season. To celebrate and to fund this project, we are hosting four ticketed events at four separate farms (all who have generously donated their space) where there will be live music, art, food and more. In addition to growing as a band, our hope with this project is to make being an artist more sustainable by building better connections with the arts and farming communities. We want to promote these beautiful communities who inspire us and in conjunction, create a refreshing, family-friendly atmosphere for the listener.

Head to our bandcamp page for part 1 of our project TURN: Spring Equinox, produced by Dan Capaldi (aka Sealevel) and recorded at A Day In This Life Studio.

Where is the event taking place?

Whatley Farm in Topsham, Maine. They are an organic family farm, who sells a wide array of organic produce, eggs and meat. FMI on their sweet farm, check out their website here.

When is this happening?

***Friday June 21st at 6pm. If it's a rainy night, the event will be the following evening Saturday June 22nd at 6pm. As the event approaches, look for notifications here on the event page as well as on our social media pages.***

Who is our opening band?

Max Garcia Conover, a songwriter based in Maine, will be opening up the evening with his sweet sounds. Max grew up in western New York and started writing songs while making his living as a busker in Puerto Rico. He releases music both independently and through the Barcelona-based label Son Canciones. He has toured North America & Europe, sharing the stage with Cat Power, Justin Townes Earle, Lake Street Dive, The Weather Station and many others. Max is not only a good friend but also a fellow musician who we admire. He's a master lyricist and his songs are like no other. For more info on Max, check out his website.

Who is our visual artist for the season?

Rachel Gates, a self-taught artist based out of Southern Maine, is our local artist who we've teamed up with for this season! Painting primarily in acrylics and gouache, Rachel focuses on creating rich landscapes inspired by the calmness and pure beauty within nature. While she draws influence from all of Mother Nature’s endless awe, Rachel concentrates on painting beaches, sunsets, mountains, and forests, featuring areas of Utah, Arizona, northern California, and largely Maine itself. Particularly fascinated with light and how it interacts with its surrounding environments, Rachel strives to render brilliant colors, ultimately capturing an authentic sense of depth in all of her work. It is Rachel’s hope that those who view her artwork may feel centered, present, and at peace within the experience. It is such an honor to parter with Rach; her heart is so evident in her work and it is sure to spark emotion in you when you see it! You can follow Rachel’s paintings on her Instagram. She will be at the event, selling her work on different sizes of canvas and wood, as well as prints.
