Event description

Description

There's no way around it, being a human is really hard. The good news is that hard is the petri dish of so much great humor. With a little excavating, some expressive tools, and a fun, safe space, almost any tough experience can be turned into funny.

Whether you're having a hard time with your job, your relationship, your kids, your parents, your apartment, or your body, we'll make up for reminding you of it right here by helping you find the humor in it. Come learn how to get to the honest truth, write jokes that make people laugh, and get a chance to perform them on stage in front of an audience.

This 6 week series includes 4 weeks of workshopping, 1 show field trip and 1 performance. It is for anyone who wants to vent about or process their life, share their experience, laugh, and discover how to forever see all the hard things that happen to you as potential material.

About the Instructor: Ali Cherry loves all the things that involve standing and talking - stand up, improv, storytelling, facilitating, training, and teaching. A wearer of many hats, she performs stand up all over DC, including the DC Drafthouse and Comedy Loft, produces and hosts comedy shows in coffee shops, teaches stand up to veterans, organizes and hosts DC Writers' Salon, and does marketing for an improv therapy program. Ali's on a personal mission to bring together comedy and mental health to make being human a little easier and a lot funnier.
