WHAT IS TURKEY TROT?
The Turkey Trot is an annual fundraiser* for the Benton-Franklin Chapter of the American Red Cross. Early Thanksgiving Day thousands of people of all ages join together for a brisk walk or run. It's a celebration of family, friendships, good health and community, while raising much needed funds for the local American Red Cross.
Events include a 5K and a 1 mile run/walk through beautiful Columbia Park in Kennewick. Participants enjoy hot and cold beverages, fun opening ceremonies and race warm-up from Kia Ora. There is a great kids area, goodie bags for the kids, pie prizes for our top finishers and fun around every corner. Be sure and look for our Turkey Trot mascot and laugh and giggle at all the holiday costumes our participants wear!
*Proceeds benefit Chapter community programs including: Disaster Services, Public Health & Safety Education, and Services to the Armed Forces.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions
Where do I park? Use the parking lots near the Blue Bridge boat ramp and the Playground of Dreams areas of the park. Extra parking is also available on the grass near the starting areas. Volunteers will direct you into these lots when the regular areas fill up. We expect about 5000 people, so the morning of the race it will be very busy. PLEASE allow time to park and get to the Turkey Trot start, especially if you are doing same day registration or packet pick-up.
What are the entry fees? The 1 mile event is $15 if before Nov. 15th (Early Bird). The 5K event is $20 if before Nov. 15th (Early Bird). The 1 mile event is $20 from Nov. 15-26. The 5K event is $25 from Nov 15-26.
The 1 mile event is $25 Turkey Trot day. The 5K event is $30 Turkey Trot day.
When is the last day to pre-register? Pre-registration ends Nov. 20th online and Nov. 26 at 6:00pm for paper registrations.
Can I register Turkey Trot Day? Yes, registration will be open from 7:30-8:30am at the bandshell. Please keep in mind that last year over 350 people registered Turkey Trot morning, so this can be time consuming. As noted above in parking, if you are doing same day registration, PLEASE arrive early so you are ready to go at start time. Also Turkey Trot entry fees increase by $10 from Early Bird fees. Turkey Trot day we will only be able to accept cash and checks and we will close registration promptly at 8:30.
Do kids under 8 participate for free? We do have free entry to under 8’s if they are accompanied by a paid adult participant.
Are dogs and strollers allowed at Turkey Trot? Turkey Trot is a family event so bring the dogs (on a leash) and bring your strollers. In order to keep all participants safe, we must insist that you start the run at the back of the pack and enjoy the fun with our other non-competitive Turkey Trotters.
When can I pick-up my Turkey Trot bib and/or t-shirt? Pick-up times are at the Benton-Franklin American Red Cross at 7202 W. Deschutes Ave in Kennewick, WA.

Can I buy a t-shirt at the Turkey Trot? We will order extra t-shirts in various sizes and sell them for $8 Turkey Trot day*. To guarantee a specific size, please pre-order by November 8th. Other collectable, vintage Turkey Trot shirts will be available for $5*. * While supplies last.
What pre-race Turkey Trot activities take place? Hot chocolate with marshmallows, coffee and bounce house will be at the Turkey Trot for family fun. (To find it look for the American Red Cross flag flying high from the boom.) Then at 8:30 all are invited to participate in the Kia Ora Turkey Trot warm-up.
Is there water offered on the course? Water will be on the 5K course after the turn-around. There will be no water on the 1 mile course.
Will there be after-race refreshments? Water bottles and apples are available to Turkey Trotters at the finish line.
Will there be Turkey Trot results posted? Since the 5K Turkey Trot is chip timed, all participants results will be posted quickly. You should start seeing them any time after 9:45. They will be posted back at the stage where registration is set up.
When and where will the 5K awards be? (I want my pie!) We should be giving out pumpkin pies to the 16 winners of the 5K age group categories of the Turkey Trot at 10:00 near the stage.
Do you need more volunteers? Turkey Trot can always use more volunteers. Email Catherine.firstname.lastname@example.org for information. We’ll need volunteers before, during and after the Turkey Trot. She can also be reached at (509) 783-6195 x206.
How many participants will be in the Turkey Trot? We had nearly 5,000 registered participants last year. We expect the attendance to be about the same this year. Lots of people means you need more time than usual to get to the Start, to park, to use the bathrooms, etc., etc., etc.
What if I need first-aid services Turkey Trot day? An ambulance and a first aid tent will be near the stage and restroom area.
