Event description

Description

Despite the societal shift towards more inclusivity and acceptance, Wyoming remains one of the most discriminatory states for members of the LGBTQ+ community. The "Equality State" is notorious for lacking even some of the most basic protections for queer-identifying adults and students.

"Tumbleweed: Dispatches from the (in)Equality State" is a one-man autobiographical show written and performed by Andrew Munz. It tells the story of a Wyoming-raised actor who grew up in the closet, and, over time and through trauma, became a local advocate for LGBTQ+ visibility in the least populated state.

Told through dramatic monologues, recorded voiceovers, music and dusted with humor, "Tumbleweed" is an attempt to shed light on Wyoming's continued fight for equality and queer rights. The tragic death of Matthew Shepard was neither the beginning nor the end of our story...

Produced in association with Roy Productions' DESTINY MANIFESTS, with support from Chashama's Space for Artists Program as well as support provided by the Wyoming Arts Council. Visit www.destinymanifests.com for more info.
