NOTICE OF RACE

1. RULES:

The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing, the Interscholastic Sailing Association Procedural Rules, the Midwest Interscholastic Sailing Association Supplemental Rules, this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions.

2. ELIGIBILTY:

2.1 This is a Tier 3 regatta. Competing schools must be members of MISSA and ISSA and meet ISSA eligibility rules as prescribed in the Procedural Rules.

2.2 A “Team” shall be made up of a minimum of 4 sailors, between the grades of 7-12. Mixed teams (comprised of students from different schools) are permitted. However, we would like to encourage schools to make “True” teams first (comprised of students from the same school), before making mixed teams with remaining sailors.

3. BOATS:

3.1 Club 420s. Boats shall be provided by MBJA.

3.2 Boats will be checked in and out upon launch and pullout. Any previously existing damage should be reported upon launching. Any new damage should be reported between races or upon pullout.

4. REGATTA FORMAT: Two-division fleet racing with rotations.

5. ENTRY:

5.1 The entry fee is $50 per sailor, which includes lunch during the regatta. Teams my reserve spots by paying for all your sailors at the Eventbrite Page by 11:30pm on Wednesday, May 16th- A team that withdraws from the regatta after the entry deadline or fails to compete at the event shall forfeit its entry fees.

5.2 Each team will receive one free lunch for their coach. Extra lunches will be available for parents and spectators to purchase on the Eventbrite page for $10. Sailors must have a refillable water bottle.

5.2 A $150 refundable damage deposit check must be submitted by each team at registration the morning of the regatta. In the event damage cannot be attributed to a particular team, the repair costs will be divided evenly amongst all the competing teams. Damage Deposit checks should be made payable to: “MBJA”.

0900- Rigging of boats

1000- First Warning. Races will continue throughout the day.

1400- No race shall start after this time, awards to follow.

8. WAIVER:

I am familiar with the fact that there are hazards involved in activities involving water and water craft, including such things as weather, wind, and equipment. I agree to release and hold the Macatawa Bay Yacht Club(MBYC), the Macatawa Bay Junior Association(MBJA), their officers, directors, employees, agents and associates harmless from any or all damages, losses, claims, suits, actions, expenses, or liability for any incident or injury to myself, my crew, my boat, or any personal property which may directly or indirectly arise from my participation in any class, activity, race or event sponsored by or associated with these entities. I acknowledge the dangers and risks involved in the sport of sailing (both competitively and for pleasure), and I agree to assume all risks and dangers associated therewith. I mutually agree with the other students and contestants to abide by all the rules and regulations governing all activities, classes, races or events and certify that I am in compliance with the safety requirements of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and US Coast Guard. If I am using my own boat or equipment (including buoyancy devices), I certify that I have caused my boat and equipment to be properly registered, displaying the requisite license decals, that I carry all the required equipment (including buoyancy devices) and that my boat and equipment have been properly maintained and are safe to sail. I also give permission to the MBJA and or parties designated by MBJA to photograph the registrant and use such photographs in all forms of media, for any and all promotional purposes including advertising, publicity, display, audio-visual, exhibition, commercial or editorial use. I understand that the term “photograph” as used herein encompasses still photographs, audio recording and motion picture footage. I further consent to the reproduction and/or authorization by MBJA to reproduce and use such photographs for use in all markets.
