Event description

Description

Alice is a programming environment created by Carnegie Mellon University. It has a powerful animation component that enables you to build intricate scenes and have 3-dimensional creatures interacting with one another, all while we learn about core computer science concepts such as objects and methods. We can't wait!

Alice Programming

Dr. Laney Strange launched Tufts Girls of Code in 2016, and we've hosted dozens of young women here at Tufts to learn about coding and to meet and support others. At a Tufts Girls of Code workshop, Dr. Strange and a fabulous cohort of current Tufts computer science students conduct a fun a interactive learning experience that includes an introduction to computer programming, hands-on coding assignments, and usually a pretty awesome project you can keep working on forever, as computer scientists tend to do.

Tufts Girls of Code hosts coding workshops for girls to spark engagement and interest in Computer Science. The goal of Tufts Girls of Code is to create a welcoming environment for girls and other individuals who are frequently underrepresented in computer science. With that in mind, we welcome children all ages 10-18 to participate in our workshops.

We heartily welcome questions, comments, and feedback! Reach out to laney@cs.tufts.edu, 415-559-2759 with any of the above. Hope to see you at a workshop!
