TUESDAYS with Mrs. Newton: Journey to MEXICO
with Angela Newton, Trained Art Educator and Fine Artist

Tuesday July 17, 10:00-2:30pm, ages 7-11 $52 if registered by July 6 ($62 after July 6)

Say “Ole” and Join us for a festival of color and sound as students discover the beauty of MEXICO through folk art traditions and music! Create clay sculpture depicting early Mexican “IGLESIA” architecture using bright colors and creative textures, and discover amazing PAPEL PICADO (“perforated paper”, literally “pecked paper”) a decorative craft made from paper cut into beautiful and elaborate designs to create colorful banners. Multiple forms of traditional Mexican art will be discussed including: piñata, pottery, weaving, and more! Students will finish the day with several projects which reflect the flavor and vitality of this celebratory culture.

*Bring a sack lunch and water bottle to enjoy during break, all other materials are provided.
