Rethink the tradition of your holiday Christmas tree: Learn about the benefits of a Living Christmas Tree and come with a list of your own ‘Greener Holiday Ideas’ to share and make the eve one not to miss.
Presenter Kirsten Lints, C.P.H.:
Kirsten Lints of Gardens ALIVE Design brings sweet ideas to your holiday traditions without the sugar. Living Christmas Trees & The Living Centerpiece Class allow a moment during the busy holiday season to unwind and create memories together. Actually, create memories for years to come!
Nearly a decade ago, Kirsten began her own business called Gardens ALIVE Design offering landscape design, plant deliveries & coaching services for residential and commercial properties. Connecting people with plants – the science and the art – have been her passion that extends through the winter months to help others think about better options to traditional holiday choices.
Kirsten is also a current Master Gardener, guest speaker and serves on many other volunteer positions for her Chamber, local high school Horticulture department, the Washington State Nursery and Landscape Association, WA Community Forestry Council & has earned many awards for display gardens at the Northwest Flower & Garden Show including the Founder’s Cup and People’s Choice Award.
Growing up on a wheat farm in Davenport, WA, obtaining Biology & Botany degrees & a Master in Education from the UW followed by serving as a Peace Corps volunteer with her husband for 2 years in the Kingdom of Tonga as a biology teacher and garden educator has given her the incredible working knowledge to combine the facts of flowers and fancies of customers together like a puzzle. In deciding to create a business from her innate love of outdoors, nature & people after having children has been a perfect fit for her family and own interests. Living in rural Duvall has given her space to trial (and sometimes fail) with her own landscape.
