The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), along with its state partners, the Water Infrastructure Finance Authority of Arizona (WIFA), Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), and Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC), is proudly sponsoring a free drought and water loss workshop for drinking water utilities


Workshop Overview

Drought and water loss issues are creating significant challenges for drinking water utilities across the United States, including Arizona. To help prepare for and build resilience to this threat, communities and water providers must sustain drought mitigation, response and recovery planning efforts, even in the absence of ongoing drought.

This workshop will include:

  • Activities that will help to develop and implement a water loss control program
  • An introduction to EPA’s Drought Response and Recovery: A Basic Guide for Water Utilities
  • Case study presentations illustrating drought response and water-loss reduction strategies implemented by small- and medium-sized utilities
  • A walkthrough of the American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) Free Water Audit Software
  • An overview of specific tools and resources for controlling water loss
