Event description

What if you could positively impact our world through something so simple as a conscious decision of choosing where you eat dinner?

At Travel+SocialGood, we believe the travel industry has the potential to solve some of our world’s most pressing issues. The key to transforming the industry into a force for good lies in mainstreaming sustainability – and that’s a lifestyle that starts at home.

On August 30 and 31, join us and our Hubs in seven cities around the world for events focused on culinary exploration, and how we can change our world through food tourism.

In New York City, we’ll share the stories behind sustainable beer brands and craft breweries. In DC, we’ll hit up a seafood restaurant at the Maine Avenue Fish Wharf, the oldest continuously operating fish market in the United States. In São Paulo, join us to learn about regional artisanal soft drinks – tubaínas. In Athens, take an adventure to sample the dishes locals love on a street food tour.

Each TSG Hub will showcase what makes their city unique through something we’re pretty sure we can all agree on: good food with good company.

When most people hear sustainable tourism, they think of ecotourism or voluntourism – but it’s so much more than that. Our goal is to talk about sustainable tourism through an easy-access lens, and what better way than to make a positive impact through food? We’re theming our latest multi-Hub event around Global Goal 12 – responsible consumption and production – specifically by focusing on our food habits.

Through becoming more aware of culinary production and consumption, we can arm ourselves with the power to make a positive impact through the choices we make every day – our meals. We have the potential to positively impact our economy, environment and society through food.

The Global Goals are a series of ambitious targets set to end our world’s most pressing issues by 2030. The Goals were established and agreed upon in 2015 by 193 world leaders, and if these goals are completed, it would mean an end to extreme poverty, inequality and climate change by 2030. Our governments have a plan to save our planet… It’s our job to make sure they stick to it.

Global Goal 12 is set to ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.

Travel+SocialGood is a global community and nonprofit aimed at solving issues like poverty or inequality through business and leisure travel We believe sustainable travel is the future of the entire industry. TSG has Hubs (local chapters) in nearly 20 cities worldwide.
